ACHIEVEMENTS
Research work:
My scientific work has been published in over 425 original contributions, reviews, books, book chapters, and editorials,(h-index 57, i10-index 171). I wrote or edited 12 Books. I own several international patents. My discoveries of anti-thrombotic factors in tomatoes amd kiwifruits are patented internationally, and 3 companies Provexis Limited (www.provexis.com) in UK, and IDIA AS (www.idia.no) in Norway, Genimen Pharmacon in India are established to commercialize these discoveries. I have successfully supervised 35 PhD/MD students so far.

International Patents
Holder of several international patents. One of these patents (Patent no. 03009683.8-2107) are on the anti-thrombotic factors isolated from tomatoes. A company, Provexis Limited, www.provexis.com) has been formed to develop and market the product.
1. Antithrombotic agents from tomatoes (WO 1999055350 A1)
The invention provides a fruit extract or active fraction thereof for use in the prophylaxis or treatment of a disease state initiated or characterised by platelet aggregation.
2. Antithrombotic agents its doses and formulation (EP 1334728 A3)
The invention provides a unit dosage form such as a tablet, lozenge, capsule, powder, granulate or gel, the unit dosage form containing an aqueous extract of tomato in a dried form, the aqueous extract having been prepared by homogenising the flesh of a tomato and removing solids therefrom. The unit dosage form contains a water soluble active fraction which is colourless or straw coloured and has platelet aggregation inhibitory activity.
