CURRENT RESEARCH
Investigating on what constitutes an optimum diet and the implementation of health promotion strategies at different levels. The main themes of my research are
"How food components contribute to health and prevent chronic diet-related diseases"
More specifically:
I) Effects of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids on feto-placental growth and development such as early placentation (placental angiogenesis), as well as placental roles in the transfer of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (DHA and ARA) and other nutrients from the mother to the fetus.

II) Cardioprotective factors in fruits: Isolation and characterisation of cardioprotective factors that lower blood pressure and platelet hyperactivity in humans.
